Question:
How often can you do Zumba® ? And how often to see any results from Zumba?
Answer From Zumba Instructor Melanie Jordan:
Zumba is mostly low impact so it's not tough on the body, but you get a great workout because you're moving very fast, moving your lower body a lot, working your core, and it's designed as an interval training workout that's more fun than the ones you may have typically heard of. And unless you're doing a Zumba Toning class, you're not using resistance where you need to think about allowing muscles recovery time.
So the reality is that if you're otherwise healthy without any physical limitations, you can
As a Zumba Instructor, between my current 4 classes per week, practice time, and still taking my mentor's Zumba class, I do between 10 - 12 hours of Zumba per week, and it has only been a big positive in helping me stay healthy and get back down to my wedding day weight.
But the typical Zumba participant trying to Zumba for health, doesn't need to do that much. When I was a Zumba class member, I used to go 2 - 4 times per week. I recommend at least twice a week for it to have an impact on your body, but if you can only do Zumba once a week or every now and then, obviously it's better than nothing at all. And who knows, you might start to get addicted to Zumba like many of my class members are--they consider it their "me" time--and you'll find ways to rearrange your schedule to go more often.
